Integrative Mental Health
Integrative mental health care looks at the full picture not just symptoms, including identifying and addressing underlying causes. Mood and emotional well-being are influenced by many interconnected factors, including nutrition, hormones, gut health, genetics, and chronic inflammation, trauma history, and life experiences. I evaluate organic drivers through a functional medicine lens, screening for issues such as nutrient deficiencies, microbiome imbalances, autoimmune activity, and chronic infections and well as look at psychosocial factors. The goal is to identify what’s actually contributing to how you feel and address it in a meaningful, lasting way.
Root-Cause, Functional Medicine Approach
When appropriate, I use targeted testing to better understand your biology, including nutritional status, hormones, immune markers, infections, and pharmacogenetics. Treatment is individualized and may include nutrition and lifestyle strategies, herbal medicine, targeted supplements, antimicrobial therapies, mindfulness practices, and prescription medications when needed.
Nutrient deficiencies such as iron and vitamin B12, as well as genetic variations like MTHFR, are common and often overlooked contributors to mood symptoms. When identified, these can be straightforward to address and can make a meaningful difference. While conventional treatment often centers around medications such as SSRIs, these may not fully address underlying drivers and can carry side effects, including sexual dysfunction and, in some cases, cognitive concerns over time.
Collaborative and Compassionate Care
As a naturopathic doctor and Certified Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Provider (PATP), I work collaboratively with therapists and psychiatrists as part of your broader care team. I also support thoughtful SSRI tapering and medication de-escalation when clinically appropriate, with a focus on safety and stability throughout the process.
Psychedelic and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Collaboration
For patients interested in psychedelic medicine, I offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy through AIMS Institute in Seattle. I also provide psychedelic-informed care, including preparation, harm reduction, and integration support for those exploring other forms of psychedelic healing.
